July 4th

Here is a photo dump for our 4th of July this year. It was very small and nothing big, so there weren't a lot of photos. I'm sure there will be more next year.

Zaydee, Serena and Scott (some of our family friends)

I couldn't get my mom to take her hand away and she made me laugh really hard.

Finally got one!!

Momma was laughing at me trying to get her picture

Us and the dogs

The Barkers again waiting for the show to start

Zaydee is a wild monkey child!

Seriously, a crazy hooligan!

And she passed out asleep as soon as the fireworks started.
We went to the parade earlier in the day, did a little shopping and had a BBQ mid-day and then went down to the Greenbelt around 7. The fireworks were slated to start at 10, but they came over the radio to report that a young man was missing in the river. Turns out, the young man and his buddy decided to swim across the river to the island in the middle. One turned around and came back when he realized that it was actually really fast under the surface, but the other kid didn't. My sister, Laura, was watching the whole thing as the young man started to flounder and then went under, never again to resurface.

Due to this sad and unfortunate situation, the fireworks were put off until about 11pm. It was a great show, just sad to know that a young man lost his life about an hour and a half earlier.

Those who know the Snake River know, you just don't swim in it. It's beautiful and serene on the surface, but under it, it's swirling with under currents that carry you away fast. Even the best swimmers just don't stand a chance. The kid was from Idaho Falls, but whatever the situation was surrounding the whole thing (I don't want to speculate), it was just sad that he misjudged and made such a mistake on what was supposed to be a fun night.

Next year will be better.
